The original TKE East structure was purchased in the early 1970s by the TKE Board of Advisors from the University. Prior to that the house was owned by Sigma Nu fraternity who had vacated and sold the property.
After 25 years of planning and preparation the Board of Advisors for TKE Beta-Sigma embarked on an ambitious building program to create the most modern fraternity facility at any major university. The building incorporates such design features as private bathrooms, kitchenettes, and built in sleeping lofts. A typical bedroom holds two or three members in a 250 square foot room of unencumbered floor space with overhead lofts built in and an 11 foot ceiling. There are 41 members living in the fraternity house.
TKE East has become a model which others have attempted to imitate elsewhere. The building consists of 18 bedrooms, 9 private kitchens and bathrooms over a fully-secure subterranean parking garage. The building has the only elevator of any fraternity. In addition to over 4,000 square feet of interior open common space, the building boasts three separate outdoor sun decks.

“What makes it so great: TKE’s houses are incredible. They have two properties (TKE West and TKE East) side-by-side which means that more brothers can live in the house which everyone will agree is best for the chapter. TKE West is the older house (although it was renovated in 2014), which means that it’s the scene for most of the events. They have the beach volleyball court (which uses the same sand at the University volleyball team) and the big lot in the back for parties. TKE East was recently built and features some incredible housing for the brothers.”
